Brother's Quay

Brother Quay made several different stop motion animation productions, all of which follow a similar storyline and appeal to the same audience. The ads are used for the entertainment purposes and include dialogue that has no meaningful purpose. Although you could argue the ad shows of and promotes the music. This particular ad has a very ery feel about it and creates and uneasy atmosphere and provokes natural emotion that could potentially scare some viewers. The storyline is not very clear. The advert has being made using puppets made of doll parts and pottery assembled in a dark moody atmosphere. Although it is quite jerky the overall effect is very good as it appears that puppets and real life objects are moving on their own. We see the doll coming to life and what appears to be thick cobwebs developing around the house. The basic resources needed to make this add will have being the puppets, a cameras, set designed to look like an old dolls house. Also the element of it being entirely captured in black and white suggest that the ad is old and reflects the action on screen. This is very different to a lot of Stop Motion animation work I have seen I like the fact that it is different and creates a dark atmosphere also as it does not have a meaningful purpose or storyline we are left wondering what the ad is about which adds to the suspense and eeriness. I also like the puppets used created by different parts of dolls as this is very clear and again fits in with the moos of the ad. However I could also understand if this were to disturb or even scare an audience.
